Why shape is worth a thought
Round is the default, which is exactly the argument for not choosing it. A square reel reads as a deliberate decision rather than whatever the supplier had, and it gives you a straight-edged print area that suits a logo built on a rectangular grid — most wordmarks sit better in a square than cropped into a circle.
Practical differences
A round body is fractionally slimmer against clothing. A square body gives marginally more usable print width for the same footprint and is easier to grip when pulling the card to a reader. Neither difference is large; choose on how your logo sits.
