Choosing a custom name badge
Start with how long the badge needs to last. Engraved plastic and metal badges are the everyday choice for retail, banks, hotels and healthcare, where staff wear the same badge for years. Laminated and full-color printed badges reproduce detailed logos and photos and suit conferences, volunteers and seasonal staff. Wood and recycled-material badges work well for brands that want a natural look.
The fastener matters as much as the face. Magnetic fasteners do not damage clothing, which is why most offices, restaurants and hospitals prefer them. Pin-back fasteners cost less and hold well on heavy fabric and lanyard-free uniforms. If staff wear badges on scrubs or knits, choose a strong magnet.
Personalization and reorders

Name badges, badge holders or lanyards?
A name badge is worn on its own and identifies the person to customers and patients. If staff need an ID card for door access, pair the card with a badge holder on a lanyard or a badge reel instead. Many organizations use both: a name badge on the uniform and an ID card on a reel.
